Our Process
Free
initial meeting.
This first one hour meeting allows us to
get to know each other and to review your
needs, concerns and objectives. We will
discuss your current situation, review the
information provided in the client questionnaire
and make our initial recommendation on what
legal strategies and solutions you should
consider. From this we are able to give
you a quote on what it will cost us to prepare
and implement your particular plan.
First meeting
follow-up. If you decide
to retain us, shortly after that first meeting
we will begin drafting the appropriate documents
(including as appropriate wills, powers
of attorney, healthcare proxies and trust
agreements). Typically you will have a list
of follow-up decisions and information to
collect as well. Typically, within two weeks
of our initial meeting we will send you
draft documents for review.
Second
meeting. After you have
had a chance to review our initial draft
estate plan a second meeting may be scheduled
to walk through the documents in detail
and answer any questions you may have. This
second meeting can also be accomplished
on a call if that is more convenient. If
any revisions are required, we will send
you a second draft set of documents to review.
Document
signing. After the documents
have been finalized, we schedule an appointment
for you to come in and sign the documents
in the presence of a notary and witnesses
where appropriate. At the end of this meeting
we will identify any remaining sites that
may be needed to implement your plan.
On
going relationship. We hope
to maintain an ongoing relationship with
our clients so that as the law or circumstances
change, we are there to provide you with
ongoing counsel and advice.
Cost
and fees. Our fees are typically
based on a flat or fixed fee which is quoted
during our initial meeting. This fee is
billed periodically in installments as we
work towards completion of your estate plan.
For those clients or projects where an hourly
rate is more appropriate, we will discuss
our rate and the estimated number of hours
to complete the project.
